Three Aussies (and a Californian)
What do they have in common? All are brilliant photographers.
Three Aussies (and a Californian) encouraged this Alaskan’s early photographic efforts. We’re just about at opposite poles, yet their kind comments this past year at photoblog.com buoyed my initial attempts and continue to do so. Harry Oldmeadow and Richard Stanley advised me. They still help me to see in new ways, and both excel at landscape photography. Richard pushed my learning curve a bit by suggesting that I use manual exposure. Both had used the Nikon D70 and offered advice about exposure, as well.
I love their work. I feel energized when I see each new photo.
And Cherax increased my interest in indoor lighting with his playful exercises and explanations at the other website. His sense of humour also has inspired me to try new angles and lighting techniques.
Patty Boyte also excels as a landscape photographer and has toured Australia with Harry and Richard, and Nepal. Her passion for photography transcends the ordinary, and her portraits from Nepal are remarkable.
I’m grateful to these three Aussies and a Californian. I think you owe it to yourself to check out their work here at RB.

So good to see the contribution of others being acknowledged.

Thank you Jan, you are most gracious, truly a one of a kind.

Wow Jan – what a nice words for you to post. I cannot imagine that my work would actually energize anyone. But certainly do feel energized by Harry’s, Patty’s, yours, and by Cherax’s, and by many others’ works. I am very pleased to have met you all through this photographic world – apart from Harry that is, whom I have now known for at least 38 years – I can only agree with Patty – you are truly one of a kind!! It is a pleasure to have met you! I don’t think there is anyone whose creative output can rival that of yours.

I could have written with even more eloquence and gratitude, but didn’t want to gush. Your comments have had considerable effect on my photography and what I see and notice now, Richard. That’s such a lovely gift.
