A winter walk in Alaska
A good snowfall reduces noise and cleans the ground of debris left by mankind. For this walk, I borrowed my husband’s 18-70mm 3.5-4.5G ED DX lens, used my monopod as a trekking pole and headed out with the dogs. Even they were quiet among the trees.
Such peace.

Quiet and clean, indeed. Broken only by my whoops of glee, occasionally.

we don’t ever really get weather or scenes like this where I live
nice
Jan Timmons replied
It’s very quiet. As Patricia writes above, good place for strolls/hikes in solitude.
rorycobbe
can you be eaten by bears?
Jan Timmons replied
Not in the winter. The rules state that grisly grizzly bears and carnivorous black bears must hibernate in the winter.
Now? Gets a bit iffy.
rorycobbe
thats a relief
In Ireland we don’t have bears.. although it might liven things up if we did

it’s been ages since I saw snow but this image really conveys that hush you get – I can imagine the dogs quietening too. It’s a kind of magical feeling. I like that the way through here is very small. great shot.
