I live in Grenfell NSW and have always had an interest in photography. My SLRs have long been gathering dust in the cupboard because I was frustrated at paying out good money for developing and not getting the results I wanted from commercial photo labs.
Although quite new to it, digital photography is just what I was looking for! Being a pensioner, I have to do it ‘on a shoestring’, so a second-hand Olympus C-770 Ultra Zoom bought off eBay was my first weapon of choice.
In October 2008, I bought myself a new camera, an Olympus SP-565UZ. This has a 20X zoom, yet will also handle super macro shots very well. It produces up to a 10Mp image on most settings, quite a step up from my 4Mp C-770. It will take some time to learn how to get the best out of my new toy. My faithful C-770 will not be forgotten though. It is always with me as back-up, and will continue to be the camera I take into more rugged ‘knockabout’ situations.
My husband and I belong to the Grenfell Camera Club, and enjoy exchanging ideas with the other members. The Club held its first (and very successful) exhibition during the Henry Lawson Festival of the Arts held in Grenfell over the June long weekend this year. (2008)
