yesterday morning was very foggy. as i drove my kiddo to school, i thought about how i wished i’d brought my camera with me, so i could dawdle around and take shots of the countryside on a foggy morning.
this morning, it was nice and foggy again. i put the camera in my purse and headed off to school. i knew what was going to happen. the batteries. it’s always the damn batteries. no time to stop at the all night drug store on the way there. so, i thought i’d take my chances.
kiddo is dropped off…i pull over at the side of the road where there are two trees in the mist on a little hill. the sun is starting to break through the fog, so there is that ominous light that kind of shines through. i get off a couple of shots of those trees and another. then i see it. the flashing icon. i knew it! i push my luck and get a couple more shots after i turn the car around.
now, i have to drive to the nearest town, where there is 24 hour grocery store. of course, when i get there, the sun has broken through and the fog seems almost gone. i think, “ok, there will be fog still up on the mountain” (its not a mountain, but actually the niagara escarpment, which we refer to as "the mountain. real mountain people either think we’re quaint or delusional, but that’s another thing all together).
i end up at a place i used to go with my parents many years ago. there’s still a bit of fog and i manage to get some nice scenic shots of autumn leaves, etc.
at home, i look at the pics and i squeal like a schoolgirl. if i do say so myself, i took some very nice shots. :) they will be on RB as soon as i can get them processed.
thanks fog. you da man, man.
