Great focal point here! I just adore these little creatures, although I have been hissed at by one before, but she had little ones, I didn’t see her until I was too close. I have rescued 2 raccoons and taken them to the wildlife center of VA. Neither of them made it through the injuries though. It really broke my heart, but at least I know I tried.

Beautiful capture Jan. Raccoons are rather incredible animals. I had about a dozen that came for a visit every evening when I lived in Missouri… and somehow I was so entranced by their visits that I never got a good image of them. My dad and I sat outside one evening and they came right up to us, bringing babies with them. One of the babies leaned against me and looked up at me. One reached out a paw and touched my dad’s hand. It was an amazing experience. I’ve never had wild animals come so close or act so trusting before or since.

Thanks John – yah they’re cute little things and usually don’t show alot of fear – but I’m surprised they came up to you with babies in tow!
