This works so incredibly well in b&w Jan. I adore b&w images :) Mr. Grackle better not eat Mr. Monarch though or he’ll die of a heart attack!
Jan Piller replied
hahaha – Is that true? would he die? Would he die of a heart attack because monarch caterpillars are so high in fat or because they are so high in poison?
Jan Timmons
What a great shot! The food chain in black and white – beautifully captured!

Great capture. Very well done. :o) I have to admint, while I love these black and white images, I prefer the richness of the color.
Jan Piller replied
Thanks Bunny – This one had loads of colour! Perhaps I’ll post both. Thanks for the input!

Excellent work and capture, Jan. You must have been right on top of it with the Sigma 17-70mm lens? LOL
Jan Piller replied
Thanks BigD – just a few feet away.

B&W good but I think it needs the color too! If he eats it he will be able to fly better with the butterfly wings!! Such a good lunch, needs a couple of slices of bread to put it between.

Fabulous!
Lyn Evans
Wonderful..I love the black and white, this is smashing Jan.

Some sites I’ve researched say the bird will die from a heart attack – other sites say they will get very sick. Either way – birds tend to stay away from insects that eat off milkweed plants because they are poisonous / toxic to them :)
Jan Piller replied
Thanks Renee – I learn something new everyday – I didn’t even know it was a monarch till my hubby told me. Well now I’ll have to change the title to ” The Last Supper”. LOL!
Rich Gale
