A Memory of Mine

A Memory of Mine

This image was shot at dawn. I waited on the lake in the dark in my kayak until the sun started to peer over the horizon and the mist I had been kayaking through became evident. The silence was golden. This is the picture I have in my head of that moment, a place I want to return to over and over again.

  • Jan Piller replied

stunning did you mke any adjustments on this?

  • Jan Piller replied

No Joak – pretty much as is – I took the kayak out on the lake before the sun even rose – sat there in the darkeness for a bit and then watched as the sun started to break through the fog and it lit up all the spider webs on the tree.

  • Nuno Pires

    Nuno Pires

nice photo, good composition, focus and DOF and good idea do use B&W =)

  • Jan Piller replied

Thanks Nuno! But its’ not black and white – it’s colour. The sun was barely up behind the fog – this is pretty much out of camera.

  • Lois Bryan

    Lois Bryan

So??? Where DID you get your magic wand??? Because surely this image isn’t real!!!! SURELY it’s magic!!!!! Have you seen In Another World group

  • Jan Piller replied

heheh I love your comments Lois! yes it’s real and pretty much straight out of the camera. I sat in the dark in the early morning in my kayak – just sat there and waited for the sun to rise. It was taken in late august up north when the lakes get all misty in the morning. So I actually shot this straight into the sun (which was barely risen and fighting it’s way through the morning fog) which is why all those spider webs are glowing.
