One Foot in Front of the Other

Canon rebelxt canon L 70-200 Southern Ontario Canada. This ground hog stepped out a wee bit early – very wet and cold, he stepped gingerly across the snow for about 50 yards and then headed back to his hole as quickly as his little feet would carry him.

Oh, sweet exquisiteness. I’ve never come across that thought before. :) Are you yourself retired? We liked that you liked our poem.
Jan Piller replied
I liked your poem because I WANT to be retired! hahaha but alas.. I am still walking…. for another ten years at least! Thanks for your very nice compliment!

Lovely. Looks like one of the beavers from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
Jan Piller replied
Yes it does!! It is a ground hog that came out of his hole a wee bit too early – he was very thin and ratty looking.

Jan, I like the minimalist aspect of this image. It reminds me of an illustration in a children’s book. Placement of the subject with purpose in its stride lends interest and movement to this lovely scene. Nice work!
Jan Piller replied
Thanks whalegeek. This was one of those shots where I had to act fast – it was such a a surprise to see this fellow come walking out of his hole in the snow. He quickly retreated again. I wasn’t ready for this shot so it was handheld at 200mm. Thanks for commenting!
