Taken in Northern Ethiopia… Shoes are somewhat of a luxury in these parts.. Bikes are almost non existent. Very few families own cars. There are NO Macca’s!!
I really enjoy taking candid portraits, and street shots. Photographs which ‘speak’ to the viewer, that can tell their own story from an image which really only portrays a moment in someone’s life. Knowing this, a friend once asked why I enjoy photographing feet/footwear so much! (I have many ‘feet/shoe’ images!) My reply was the same, ‘these images portray or have an important story to tell.’ The enquirer appeared perplexed. This photograph was my response. I think this image speaks volumes about this boy’s life, childhood, and his community. It has the ability to ‘move’ the viewer. :))
