At the Adelaide Zoo in South Australia we have 2 lionesses and one male lion. They are in rather small enclosures and are fed every second day. I spoke to the keeper and asked why they are in smaller enclosures. He told me that because the lions sleep 20 hours out of 24 they dont need any more room. I remember this enclosure has not changed at all since I was a child and visiting the zoo. They seem content enough but it is a sad fact that due to the human race these animals are dwindling in numbers and have to be kept in zoos around the world to help keep these magnificent animals from becoming extinct.
Thank god for zoos!!!!
I had no choice…photo taken through wire as best I could. Just as well… lol.
