Me and Jackie Paper sing,
“we forgot that rascal, Puff.”
and my buster brown decoder ring,
got lost with other stuff.
It was the dawning of Aquarius,
my bellbottoms dragged the floor.
Leisure suits wern’t yet hilarious,
but there were smiley faces galore.
Tommy Roe and I got “Dizzy”,
Jerimia was a good friend of mine.
Mac Davis put me in a Tizzy,
I’ll never forget his sexy line.
My sea monkey package was really cool,
they looked so playfull and fun.
but I ended up feeling like a fool,
I could never actually see one.
My brother had a creepy crawler set,
I had an easy bake oven.
That stinky rubber I’ll never forget,
but my Johnny cakes, “we were lovin.”
Davy Jones was my favorite “Monkey”,
and the Beatles were really fine.
American Bandstand was funky,
as we danced to “Love potion number 9.”
We used to buy tubes of love beads,
to string on elastic that fit our heads.
We ate lots of pumpkin and sunflower seeds,
and hung “Tikki dolls” on our beds.
I wore go go boots and mini skirts,
My tiedye T’s were groovy.
but hiphuggers and belly shirts,
were for a drive-in movie.
I had psychedelic posters hung,
which reqiured alot of black light.
and when gettin down to “iron lung”
the pad was a pretty cool sight.
Now further down the line,,
I remember “Smoke on the Water”,
we were drinking Boones Farm wine,
and doing nothin that we oughter.
If you remember any of this,
and can actually recall it still,
give your grandkids a goodbye kiss,
cause we’re heading over the hill.
