Star twister 45 eggshell and superstition

If not for sheer determination we never would have made it. Six agonizing days at sea, tossed about like thistles in the wind. The sun daily blistered our yearning faces as we neared our jungle destination. The three of us mere strangers before the find now linked forever in this secret journey.

The archeological dig in New Zealand was an event in itself, why we three were paired to a particular section was none other than fate. When we uncovered the map we all knew it had to be ours and ours alone. No museum would ever know the adventure we claimed, we deserved this, and it’s what we dedicated our lives to. We pledged to each other and with our map set out to find the lost tribe of Selohssa, found only deep in the remote uncharted Kcufmub islands.

The thick jungle terrain ripped our skin and the bugs attacked like vultures. Our swollen, blistered feet did not contemplate stopping, we knew the enormity of this discovery. Our compasses indicated we were only one more day away.

Amidst the wild jungle noises resonating in our ears and the fatigue that had set in, we smelled smoke. Just before sunset we came across a path that lead us closer to a huge fire. We knew we must be cautious; an unknown jungle tribe may not be friendly. They might be superstitious and believe we are evil.

We circled in the dark at a safe distance. Suddenly there was a loud crunching sound. Flashing light on the ground we saw evidence of garbage. We were stepping on eggshells, banana peels, small bones and beer cans. Beer cans? As we focused our cameras into the night and could see the people around the fire, to our horror and complete disappointment we realized it was the entire crew from the dig in New Zealand. We had been tricked. As we walked into the light of the fire embarrassed, hungry and exhausted they all laughed and applauded. Apparently there was a small landing strip right on the other side of the island and they had camped there for days waiting on our arrival.

Rubbing it in our faces they said, “Fools, did you think you could get away with betraying us? Did you not notice anything backwards about the map? Try reading the name of the tribe and the Island backwards and you will see where you have come.
