Modern Day Covered Bridge
This bridge is 150 feet long and 36 feet wide. It was built in 1997 by APAC and is open to the public. It’s truss is styled with decorative lattice. It goes over Mill Rock Creek. Formerly known as Haralson Mill Bridge, it is not historic, but it exemplifies the interest the public still has in covered bridges. Originally designed as a pre-stressed concrete bridge, county planners decided to make this bridge a landmark, adding a large wooden superstructure and rock facing to the underlying concrete bridge. Total cost of the redesigned bridge: $880,000. Concerned about the possibility of fire, this bridge is equipped with cameras, smoke detectors, and a sprinkler system.

Again another great shot, you have got this at exactly the right angle,a very expensive project but well worth it and i like the lattice work great photos up or down the river, just enough room to stick the lens through without dropin the camera in the drink..
Janie Oliver replied
Thanks so much. Like your idea of putting the lens through the lattice. I actually did that when I was there.

POV is superb, as mentioned. Wonderful clarity, as well. Interesting to see they are still building covered bridges. As we have none, as far as I know, anywhere in Texas, my wife and I are of the opinion that they cover them to shelther them from snow and ice. Are we correct?
Janie Oliver replied
You know there is a reason why they cover them but I don’t think that was the reason. In fact someone on Redbubble told me why. I’ve got to do some research on this again. Thanks for the comment.
