Lemonthyme Lodge

This was the location for the wedding I went to on the weekend, a beautiful day and pristine wilderness only briefly interrupted by the log cabins of this lodging. The hospitality was wonderful here, I would recommend it to anyone spending time near Cradle Mountain in Tasmania. Tasmania herself impressed us from the moment we glimpsed the blue waters and green forests and farmlands from the sky, to when we arrived at the heart of the mountains and wilderness!

The old fella here on the verandah was the landscaper (he built the BBQ’s and retaining walls). He gave us some great conversation over our morning coffee as heads were clearing from the celebrations the night before.

Nice to capture the character within the scene and the b/w tones work so very well Jane. Love the angle showing the supports too.

  • Jane Keats replied

Cheers Stu, yes it was great, I was taking photos of the lodge itself from that angle when he stepped up to the rail and made a good shot much, much better!

Could his conversation possibly have been as wonderful as his beard? Love these character shots, almost like he’s hewn out of the woodwork.

  • Jane Keats replied

Haha, it really was, I learned all about the lofge having been built out of Canadian Pine from an experimental plot nearby, and he taught me about the area as well. Really lovely man :o)

Excellent shot, lovely composition and the B&W adds nicely to the tone of the image.
What a wonderful ‘rustic’ looking location for a wedding, it must’ve been sooo beautiful!!!
Can’t wait to see more shots.

  • Jane Keats replied

Oh it was wonderful, perfect for a couple of people as passionate about the Australian bush as they are. I didn’t get many shots though, too busy drinking champagne, lol!
