Wishing trees and prayer trees are more common in Asia than they are in the west. Painting them is a calming exercise for me, a way of combining making art with a bit of Buddhist meditation. The trees I paint exist in a surreal world, where the prayers on the trees come from people who don’t visit prayer trees.
This prayer tree was my first, and I also wanted to paint it as a place of protection.
What beautiful and thoughtful work this is. At my grandson’s wedding we had a tree that we posted blessings on. It was one of them most beautiful traditions I have ever seen. I love what you have expressed here with the prayers protecting the individual.
This beautiful artwork remind me of “The Three Of Life”, Of course that tree represents the Lord and how great it is that our prayers reach His heart just talking to Him! Beautiful painting and idea Janet!
