Desert Stars and Moon

Tanka with prose. I just love writing this way. I hope you enjoy this love poem with prose. x

Desert Stars and Moon belongs to the following groups:

A hummingbird flew
Caught before it found the nest
My love he reads me
Like musical wild flowers
Words engraved in a glass book

He reads my thoughts and writes them on the desert sand and yet I have never felt his soft lips, his breath upon my neck or his strong hands upon my face. Nor have I ever seen his smile. I have only seen a shy face looking on in wonder and then gone before I could embrace it. Yet he touches me a thousand leagues deep in one purple midnight moment that shines like persimmons on a golden plate. Our fleeting eye songs linger behind an ancient portal. The lyrics live alone with the stars.

Desert stars and moon
Took just one beguiling look
When you were my eyes
If only I could hold you
For just one fleeting moment
