coming home

For those who know little about me, I left the city four years ago for a number of reasons and have lived on my own in a very remote place for that time. In many ways it has been the most solitary and difficult thing I have ever done….but at the time my spirit knew it was necessary. A time of soul-searching that has been extremely cathartic in so many ways. It would have been a waste and a tragedy if it had not been healing too, as it most certainly was. I realized a lot of things about myself during this time ….. it was a necessary time … I am a work in progress as we all are, until the end. None of us will ever attain the ‘perfection’ we seek but we sure can strive to be the best we can be! It is very easy to ridicule, to judge etc., when you are not in another’s shoes and have not lived their life. There have been times when I have been criticized from strange quarters for daring to take time out to ‘research’ and know myself so to speak but I wouldn’t change it now, not for the world. That done I am now in a better position to live the kind of life that I want to live in the heart of society.
I write this poem for the children, the family and the friends that I left behind.

coming home belongs to the following groups:

Lifeline and The Healing Journey

exiled from a thousand miles
keeping distance within reason
aware enough to understand
what was coming with the season
in a heart that sang a new line
cut the cold and lean and blue
turned warm and real and true
my eyes flickered in the half light
numb with love deprivation
kohled by a clocks lonely hand
rocking life back and forth
birthing it to new beginning
I filled my lungs with all of living
as I left a solitary life in tune
to an old fashioned brass band
leaving it on an unfamiliar shelf
it prickled in the freezing silence
until all walls came tumbling down
I stiffened with the crushing feeling
bruised to the bone, I came alive
running now to you beloved
to board my long awaiting train
I’m coming home to me
I’m coming home to you

now that i read your description ( sorry ;)) i can tell you “bravissima ” and you were so right to do this !! i too , did it , i didnt leave as long as i wanted and needed to because of my daughter in big troubles at this time but i can tell you that , even when i came back , even with family or friends (as rarely as i could !) ,it has been a solitary road , and even tougher than when i was physically far and “free” to go on my initiatic way ! my best wishes to you Jane :)

  • JaneSolomon replied

Thank you so much for being here Marilyns. Much love to you. xxx

No more stumblin’ on the way,
No more longin’ for the day,
    Gwine to roam no more!”
