They had enough at this point of our afternoon hike! This isn’t staged!! Haha! We spent an afternoon of hiking through the Leesylvania State Park in Northern Virginia, where the Lee’s plantation is now an historical landmark. We love to explore all of the rich history around us and get in some good exercise at the same time. ;)

At the top of a hill, where the Lee Family Cemetery is located (Henry Lee II and Lucy Grymes – grandparents of Robert E. Lee), my two children announced that they were tired and bored and wanted to go home. They climbed on top of the cemetery marker and took their well needed break (gasp!). My kids just don’t have the interest in this sort of stuff but we manage to drag them out on as many nice weekends as we can anyway. Heh. This particular afternoon, they were too hot and tired to want anything to do with it. Oh well. They’ll either thank us or curse us one day for taking them to these sort of places. LOL. I, on the other hand, had a blast taking photographs, as I always do!

Gave this photo an old, dark feel to match their mood. ;)

That’s one place I would love to visit one day. Awesome view, kids and all. LOL

  • Thank you JR! It’s a great place to visit! I hope you do make it someday.

There are foundations of old buildings, ruins of an old hunt club, an artillery site with a Civil War naval cannon, the site of an old railroad, the little cemetery at the top and a gorgeous view of the Potomac River. I can’t wait to go back when the leaves start to change. We’ve been there several times but never in the Fall. Took this photo just last weekend and the weather has done a 180! Enjoying these cooler temps! You can learn more here if you’re interested. They also provide links to other locations w/in the park. Thanks again for your wonderful comments!

this is so cute…. so many people only take pictures of their children when they are smiling and happy…. my most treasured pictures of my kids are ones like this.. love the bandaid on the shin of your daughter… they both look like “Mom, if you are expecting me to smile, forget it, it ain’t gonna happen!”… love this one, jane!!!

  • Thanks Barb!! They all can’t be beautiful and glamorous, right? HA! She cut herself earlier during our hike, which added to the drama! lol. Yeah, yeah, they look just like me….when I’m unhappy with them in this case. :)~ Glad you like it!
