We decided to fight the crowds this year to view the cherry blossoms down on the Mall in DC. I don’t recall seeing so many tourists since the last time I visited, about 15 years ago. I live in the suburbs, have all my life, but avoid tourist season for obvious reasons! I was also surprised to see how much bigger the trees had grown while standing underneath them! Wow! When I was a child, they were so small and there was a ton of more room to run around. ;) Today, the trees are a huge presence in our nation’s capital and still, oh so beautiful!

I had to wait for people to finish up their photo ops to sneak in and take this pic with the Jefferson Memorial in the distance. Of course, I had a family shot at this very spot as well (blush).
