    That’s a terrific result, Jane – looks like he’s actually waiting for the shot. The light texture across his foreleg is wonderful, as it is across the edge of the leaf. Great result.

    Totally cool. As a child i watched in morbid fascination a preying mantis very methodically and efficiently chewed the head off a struggling fly – that was when i ‘got’ the significance of the spelling of ‘preying’ ... lol.
    There is an album by a band called Shihad called “Love is the new hate” that uses a series of photo’s of 2 mantises in a mating ‘ritual’ that is reminiscent of this shot.
