TRAPEZE...

What I dreamed last night…

I dreamed I was with a few other people at a large facility
that was set-up as temporary, like in a large circus tent.
It was like a sports center. I was doing sports with my
girlfriend. She was younger, not much, than I. She was
very pretty. We rollerskated, did some other sports like
swimming and then we were playing tennis. She was very
good. Much better than I, but she liked playing with me
because we were friends. I had a male friend there too,
that was a little older than her. He was handsome and very
good at tennis. I suggested she try playing with him, but
she did not want too. I think it was because she felt
more comfortable with me. Then she went off on her own.
She was on a uni-cycle. She had a battery with her, like a car
battery and it was connected to her by some cords. She
went up high, in the tent to the area where there was
TRAPEZE equipment. She was uni-cycling on a highwire
and there was no safety net. Then an older man and
woman followed her up to the TRAPEZE area. They did
not have good intentions, especially the man. She was
hanging by some cords, doing a trick. Hi-flying. Some people
were watching, but it wasn’t in a nice way, it was like they
wanted her to fall. They were watching and yelling and making
rude comments. It was like a sports event and she was the
spectacle and the target. They wanted her to get hurt. He
came over to her and started cutting the cords that were
keeping her up, and they were also connected to her battery.
She started crying and begged him to stop, because she
knew that if he cut the cord the battery would explode onto
her, it was right above her face. And the cords were holding
her up in the air, so if he cut them she would fall. She was
crying and begging him to stop and he wouldn’t. She
covered the battery with her hands because she was afraid
that it was going to explode. He kept cutting. He didn’t care
or hear anything she said. He just wanted the battery. He
didn’t care about her at all. Then the battery exploded and
the acid ate away at her face. It was very gruesome. I
watched her face melt. It ate right through her head until
there was nothing left. I watched it eat her skin, her eyes,
her beauty, her blood, her flesh, her brain, and then nothing
was left. She had no head. When he severed the cord, he
took the battery and her body fell in circles spiraling to the
hard ground. She hit very hard. He took the battery, like
nothing had really happened and exited the building very
quickly with the older woman. Outside it was dark, and in
the middle of nowhere. He and the older woman got in a
large car and left. Everyone else had left too. I was left in
the tent, with only my male friend who had seen the
whole thing too.

This dream has a lot of psychological connections and symbolism. A few places in my pyche that it covers are; 1) feeling split in two, I am really both the girls in the dream 2) feeling set-up for a fall ie: TRAPEZE 3) feeling betrayed, hurt and murdered 4) feeling a huge lack of privacy, like a circus freak show 5) feeling no safety 6) feeling forced to do tricks, and then paying for it with your health and life 7) feeling the hate of a large group 8) feeling isolated, this is all in the middle of nowhereland 9) feeling desolated and alone after it all, or was she? This was a large scale temporary operation…in my dream, but not in my life.

The car battery represents the illness that has devastated the inside of my body and health. I think the sport activities were symbolic of sex, and the unicycle indicated that she was trying to be independent, on her own, but look what happened to her on her own.

I have a deep love for expressionism – ‘Expressionistic artist sought to develop pictorial forms which would express their innermost feelings rather than represent the external world. Expressionist painting is intense, passionate and highly personal, based on the concept of the painter’s canvas as a vehicle for demonstrating emotions. Violent, unreal color and dramatic brushwork make the typical expressionistic painting quiver with vitality.’ This is what I try to achieve when I paint.

Dreams are great aren’t they, because I actually didn’t have to sit down and create this, my mind did in my subconscious when I was asleep. All I did was write it down. And thanks for the hug, believe me, I needed that. Smiles from Jane.
