Some dog had rolled around in them
And dug up his old bones right through them, ahem
That dog was mincemeat, my mom was frazzled
My mom put up a flower fence
And bought a fat cat named Chance for defense
When the dog returned to do more damage
Chance the kitty sat on the flower fence and spit and spat in a fury
His kitty claws were sprung forth in great courage
That big stupid old dog ran off in a hurry
Mommy’s flowers grew back, a little bit slowly
But ever so lovely
Everything in life renews
Allowing we give it the time it needs to heal and feel anew
As for Chance, he was very loved and grew quite fat
After all he had a tough job, guarding that flower habitat

Wonderful words. Brought back memories of our spunky cat Tuffy. One day the gate was left open and some dogs came into the yard and tried to take his meal. He jumped on the back of the biggest one and dug in, claws & jaws. Rode it like a jockey out of the yard. Jumped on the fence and hissed causing all the other dogs to leave. Thank you for the story of Chance
