Snowy Day

J Anderson

Snowy Day

I was inspired by the contrast and affect of soft, quieting snow to busy city life and its bold structures. This was mainly painted using a palette knife and heavily textured with impasto.

    I love this.
I often strive to make landscapes abstract while still remaining recognisable. This does it so much better than I have managed so far.

This is beautiful. The calm feeling that comes to a city when it starts to snow hard-you captured it,which is tough since it isn’t tangible I suppose. But I know it.

beautiful, great capture of the strange silence in a city after a big snow fall, the snow-plows haven’t made it around all the streets yet, no cars, only a few people braving the cold in the early morning. love it

I was pondering why this one appealed to me more than Snowy Day II. They are both beautiful pieces…and I realised that the lack of anchors, or borders (whatever they may be) that lined the streets in this piece made me feel more comfortable, more relaxed. And that’s a purely personal thing, isn’t it. I love how we can find out more about ourselves through someone elses works of beauty and committment. thank you J!!!
