Took the wife on a Valentine’s picnic by steam train.
These trains are made serviceable and maintained by Reefsteamers.
Reefsteamers comprises people from all walks of life such as business executives, engineers, accountants and pensioners, most of who spent many years in the employ of the Railways. All work is done on a voluntary basis and no one is paid any remuneration whatsoever. They currently have 100 members both local and overseas. Twenty-five people are actively involved in restoration during weekends. Reefsteamers invites every one to come along and spend the day with them, enjoying their wonderful nostalgic old steam trains and a day
out for the whole family that doesn’t involve highways, stress, hurry and traffic jams. The Reefsteamers enjoyed themselves too, servicing, driving and firing the magnificent machine that took us out for the day.
