The ruins of Waverley Abbey near Farnham, Surrey, thankfully it was actually good photographer weather when I was here as I walked from Farnham, about 2 miles!

Brief bit of History…

Waverley Abbey was the first Ciscercian abbey built in Britain, it was built in 1128 by the Bishop of Winchester, William Gifford.

The Ciscercian’s had a life of austerity and faith, aiming to build these temples of communion and prayer away from the daily discourse of man. It was very important in the early medieval period with over 100 monks residing there.

It was dissolved in 1536 in the dissolution of the monasteries and fell into decay for many years like many monasteries and abbeys at the time.

Taken with a Nikon D80, have got my canon 650D now so will be uploading some with that after these waverley abbey ones :)

Thanks for Looking.

Hi, Im James, I like to experiment with my photography, from photographing still, serene images of landscapes and the natural world to busy city scenes and street photography. I have just started a photography degree at UCA farnham which will hopefully help me to broaden my skills and focus more on a single aspect of photography.
