The Green Forest

My favourite enchanted place in the Lake District National Park, deep in the green wood on Claife Heights. Taken 12th August 2009. I love the mosses on the trees. The ground was fairly waterlogged as the drainage here is not good.

    That looks good mate. Try a version using ORTON then de-saturate it slightly. It tends to make the trees leap off the page!

    now this is a bit good Jamie, but you can see where you buried Mr Smith after your recent falling out ;) Nice cover story about him being in Scotland on a camping trip with no media access. This would be really magical in infrared

    Hi Claire, no, this is in the Lake District, which is even closer.(Just south of the Scottish border. Check out The Lake District group for a feel of what we have to offer.Skye is also good, but a lot further up into Scotland.I recommend the west coast and mountains around Gairloch.

    Thanks Rachel, and for the fave. That’s just a very slight post processing on the contrast and it seemed to enhance the natural colour.I must say it is one of the greenest places I’ve ever seen….for some reason the Lake District has been very green this year…

    Thanks catherine, yes it is pretty much,(slight tweak in editing) although August was exceptionally wet, and the undergrowth and foliage was greener than usual.The ground in this area of the forest never drains very well either..

    Thank you Sylvia….I did end up getting Photoshop but didn’t like it as much as Picassa which I find easier to use.(Heresy I hear them cry!!) The Orton effect didn’t do it for me on this shot but your tip is ever so useful. I’ve saved it and I’ll give it a go and see what happens.Thanks very much for your comment and helpful advice…..

    I don’t remember when I last visited Ha’hula Valley.. probably ages ago..
    So i remember nothing of its colours in this season :    )..
    There are some GREEN Places in Israel, of course… :-)

    Shabbat Shalom Nira, I spent 3 years on Kibbutz Gonen in Upper Gallilee in the mid 70’s..I leant a little Hebrew there..and the Hula is green late in the year..you should go again..
