Now here’s a challenging pen and ink sketch from a while ago. The Grand Canyon in Arizona is of such huge scale, luscious colors and great atmospherics that to attempt a small pen and ink sketch seemed silly… but hey, back then without a camera, but always my trusty 5 × 8 Canson sketchbook what other choice did I have. There are a lot of the icon south rim details on the right side of the drawing; the El Tovar Hotel tower, the flag flying by the rim and the wooden guest quarters closer yet. And, no it doesn’t show the canyon depth or the Colorado river at the bottom.
In 2013 I’m taking many of my previous RB art into Photoshop and making changes to load as other product types. I usually leave the original loaded art as is, yet am enjoying the process of making alterations.
