In Thailand the most prevalent mode of transportation on the sea is their Long Tail Boats. It’s a sturdy wooden craft with a protruding bow of an extension of the keel beam. Usually this is wrapped with colorful ‘blessing’ flags, that soon fade in the sun. They are powered by small automobile engines mounted into a pivot bracket at the stern. The long drive shaft to the propellers, not only gives them their name, but also allows these craft to be amazingly maneuverable. Drawn by an Island beach near Krabi, Thailand.
