Today’s (Jan. 31) addition to my November 2000 sketchbook drawings was made during a concert at Carnegie Hall that WE attended during OUR trip to New York City. I want to get this loaded before the midnight hour, since this date is my birthday and WE attended a Tucson Symphony performance at Tucson’s Concert Hall earlier today. I didn’t do a drawing today, but I thought about loading this one. I was also escorted into a surprise B-Day party and imbibed my semi-annual quota of two beers and am now ‘talking’ my way into sobriety and eventual good night’s sleep… though I still am late enough to qualify for the Insomniac’s Group!

Anyway, back to the evening at Carnegie Hall in November, 2000. I don’t remember the performance, but the ‘WE’ who attended included my wife and her father Jack deSimone. Jack had been the behind the scenes Public Relations legs in the late 1950’s early 60’s that was crucial in saving Carnegie Hall from being demolished for a new mid-Manhattan office tower. He’d also served on their Board of Directors for many years and was at this stage an honored Honorary Board Member. We were given seats in the lower box seats (like those in the drawing on the opposite side. Many a dignitary came to say hello to Jack before and after the performance. That was memorable.

Carnegie Hall is still one of the most iconic and sought after musical performance spaces in the world. This isn’t a great sketch… but I was busy being introduced and all that. I think that’s enough conversation… time for the show… or load of the sketch… enjoy!

In 2013 I’m having fun reformatting many an old sketch and then reloading them. On this one I used a number of Photoshop effects to recreate the original atmosphere of the concert. Sorry the original sketch has been replaced with this Photoshop version… just from my artistic POV!

STICKERS R FUN
