This pen and ink sketch was done while I attended a picnic at Catalina State Park just north of Tucson, Arizona. I drew it on the paper table cloth, when it turned out well I tore it out.
The giant saguaro is the iconic image of our Sonoran desert. One this large is probably over two hundred years old… so it has ‘witnessed’ much change during its life. Indians, missionaries, miners, ranchers & cattle and now park rangers and harried city folk looking for a moment of nature’s solace. ; – ))
I made the few necessary adjustments to load this in Photoshop Elements. I experimented adding a little color to the torn edges and stayed up late in my all too frequent insomniac haze to complete it.
