This work started out as a pen and ink sketch I did on a 5″ × 8″ plain index card some years ago. The back ground was filled in with clouds in illustrator markers. Over the years the work yellowed, the markers faded and discolored, but the original sketch still had some nice qualities to it.

I moved it into Photoshop (PS) and the tawdry aspects just jumped out further. So after making adjustments for RB card format, like creating a colored torn edge, I experimented with some ‘filter’ choices. ‘Solarization’ really popped this image. It turned the century plant black with darker lines yet, but really converted the background into a feast of color. I re-painted the plant highlights with white, re-outlined for emphasis with black lines and made minor background color adjustments. I’m not a whiz at PS yet, but I like what I figured out to do with this old sketch.
I didn’t keep track of how long it took me or how late the hour… but I did this a few nights back and I’m just rested up now to submit it! ; – )))))))))))))

It’d be a decent card for the concept of making current improvements or changes (in this new century) to have a ‘brighter’ outlook for the future!

Just in case anyone reads this and CRAVES to see more of this artist’s works, then you can CLICK ON the “FIRST TAG” below (jlh designs) and there’ll be pages of his artistic expressions! Enjoy ;-)))

A persona who has apparently lived a relatively long, varied and eclectic life. My Red Bubble portfolios reflect my seeming persona… and IF there’s any veracity to these reflections then some sense of HUMOUR and enjoyment should be PRESENT!

i really enjoyed this… funny how things can beautify by aging and fading.. i’m glad you posted this. :)

  • I hope you are right about …“funny how things can beautify by aging and fading…” Sometimes I can feel like like I’m aging and fading very quickly ; – )))… but if this is my ‘road to beautification’ then okay ; – )))…
I suspect I’m just on a “funny” road though! LOL … I’m glad you commented!
