If anyone is following this current series of the ‘old’ paintings from my ‘ancient’ past, then this unfinished work is next. It’s the place I spent two years at while not checking in to see if my draft notice had actually arrived. This is the view across Montego Bay from the veranda of the 80 year old beach house, now Stacy’s (in 1965.)
It was an experiment at the time to try and capture the unique and wonderful goings on at this establishment. Thus the modified entry walk, the nude and map of Jamaica up in the Almond tree leaves. I submit it here as part of my growing retrospective and in homage to Stacy and all the characters who made it up the walk.
The 40″ × 30″ Masonite board was painted with interior water base house paint with colorized additives.

2014 added this art to RB Products. ;-)))

A persona who has apparently lived a relatively long, varied and eclectic life. My Red Bubble portfolios reflect my seeming persona… and IF there’s any veracity to these reflections then some sense of HUMOUR and enjoyment should be PRESENT!

wonderful colourscheme… looks so relaxing and peaceful :)

  • I spent most of two years on this veranda looking out at this wonderful tropical view. When painting it I remember folks saying how I’d captured the color of the water, today that seems amazing. Incredible people came and went, many locals as well as tourists/travelers, who paid for the place.
Thanks for visiting ;-) and your appreciated comments.

Really good work, James. I especially like the entry walk. I can tell you put a lot of work into this.

  • I did put some work into while I was painting and living on this veranda. It was a fascinating time and place, as I tried to illustrate with the dimensional sidewalk. Thanks for checking in and commenting… you’re appreciated ;-)))

Great work James, looks so peaceful and calm, lovely colors too!

  • Oh, if only the house and trees were still there for me to go back and finish this painting… change is the only constant… I hope that lush Jamaican sea of Montego bay is still those colors!
Thanks so much for your appreciative comment. ;-))

This is REALLY nice – the colors and the way the picture is framed by the architecture – very cool!

  • Thanks… the history is almost as old, but the memories are still vivid like the colors. ;-)

Nonthaburi is a big province which is part of the capital Bangkok,me my wife and kids live here just only a year, but before this we live in Suratthani province my hometown which is very close to Koh Samui..I am very happy to know that you miss our country..thank you James.

  • OH, you are so welcome! We lived (my wife and I) our almost four years on Koh Samui, next to Choeng Mon Beach. We did some travels about the country… and now after being back in US for a little over a year, what we miss most are all the wonderful Thai people… those we got to know and then all those we just mingled among. We’ll be back!
