The Red Bubble ‘Cities of the world’ tee contest in July 2013 inspired me to look at the thousands of photos I’ve taken around Bangkok, Thailand with my Canaon point and shoot camera. Bangkok is the most eclectic, vibrant, busy, paradoxical city imaginable… truly AMAZING. It has over 12 million residents and sprawls itself over a large flat river delta area.
There are so many iconic images in Bangkok from palaces to buhddist temples; clusters of skyscapers; rivers and canals. YET, it’s the PEOPLE, and their constant energy, that truly captivates my imagination. It was also recently acknowledged as having the best street food anywhere in the world. It also probably has the worst traffic gridlock!
The city’s offical name goes on and on, starting with “City of Angels” and eventually becoming the longest place name of anywhere on earth. Bangkok is merely the popular name it got labeled with around the world.
I sorted through all my images, getting so enmeshed as if I was fully present right there, right now. My tee design goal was to attempt to capture the essence of Bangkok’s awesomeness. In Photoshop I cut, pasted and composed my best organized version of the city’s chaos. ENJOY!
