An early watercolour I painted in the 1980s,a Red Admiral Butterfly sits on the Brambles and Blackberries that are being overgrown by Wild Hops, during the summer months the Hops threaten to choke the Bramble but come autumn or fall they die back and the Bramble reigns supreme once more.
I used Winsor and Newton artists paints on a tinted pastel paper, which brand I have long since forgotten.

butterfly, insect, red admiral, hops, bramble, blackberries, plant, wildlife, nature, watercolour

I still do not have a clue what drives me to paint but paint I must, all I can think is that it is a sort of magic brought about by nature.
Like most artists I have my blank times or blocks but something,a bird calling, maybe moonlight or perhaps even a single falling leaf always invokes this magic so that I start painting again for I am an artist.
