Big Bull Buffet by JamesA1
Clear

A big Elk in a meadow close to Lake Minnewanka chews on some cud. This field is a favorite for the elk during winter as the grass\weeds are long and abundent which help keep the snow pack loose covering the tasty morsels and make the food easy to dig up. This Field is also very close to the heavy forested area which allows them to escape predators and ‘disappear’ easily. Many times I have made my way to Lake Minnewanka and found solitary Bull Elk enjoying the buffet. During a heavy snowfall though…the snow will become to deep for them to dig up and they will move on to ‘greener pastures’ until the snow melts away, Lake Minnewanka, Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada
