Boo is the local fan favorite of the golden and kicking horse area. He and his brother were orphaned at a about 1 year old when their mother was shot by a poacher in the BC cariboo mountains (the poacher was caught). Since he was rescued as a cub he has not had the proper exposure or training that his mother would have been able to give him in the wild…the refuge is his home.
Boo and his brother cari were brought to this refuge in 2003. Boo’s brother died during hibernation in the winter of 2004 of natural causes. Boo is very much a wild grizzly…he got out of the refuge in 2006 when a female grizzly wandered close by… he courted the female grizzly for over 30 days and on his own accord returned to the refuge….everyone was keeping their eyes open for baby boo’s….but, since Boo has been ‘FIXED’ no baby boo’s will be around :( Big Boo was at it again and he broke out of his refuge in the fall of 2011 looking for love, but has since been returned…go Boo go!
