Hey this is fabulous James, I had no idea you shot some transparency film when you were younger. I love it, the location, atmosphere, it’s all great. Exposure is excellent too, some lost highlights in the sky and the dome but you nailed the detail in the street and this is just a fact of life when shooting tranny. Perspective down the street is very good, too.

Best of all, have a look in the centre of the street in the middle distance (near the pedestrian). I can see a Citroën D series sedan of some type. Before the photography bug hit big time, I was into classic cars and ran a DS23 EFI Pallas as my everyday driver for a few years. Even now, the sight of one of the big Citroëns is enough to make me misty-eyed and reminiscent of one of the greatest automobile designs of all time. I an going to have to favourite this one I’m afraid!

  • Brett, Thank you for such a wonderful comment. I thought of you when I saw that Citroën today when looking over the shot after so many years. There is also an old Simca Rallye just to the left of it which I really loved when living in Spain during the 70’s. Thanks again, James

Great shot, James! The detail goes on forever. The long lens really makes shots like this work. Brett is right about the detail you get in tranny – totally dazzling! A favourite for sure.

  • Geoff, Thanks for the comment. I have so many old Ektachrome slides I have to go through. It’s all fun! James
