For more than four decades the site was home to the Republican Aviation Corp., which was founded in 1939 and built a number of notable military aircraft that served the U.S. in World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the Middle East. Those aircraft included the P-47 Thunderbolt, the F-84 Thunderjet and Thunderstreak, the F-105 Thunderchief and, after the company was bought out by Fairchild in 1965 becoming Fairchild-Republic, the A-10 Thunderbolt II — a jet ground-attack fighter better known as “The Warthog.”……….*The building was also home to a flea market for 10 years after the airplane building company left, after the flea market closed down the building stayed abandoned for 20 years until a fire burnt the already decayin structure up in 2007…….(sidenote)..as soon as i set foot on to the 3rd floor of this building i instantly fell threw the floor up past my knees :)..needless to say i didnt take any photos up there.
