Pier PreDawn - Queenscliff - Victoria
A happy mistake, a daylight savings miscalculation saw me up many hours before sunrise – I shot this image in the twilight with a 4 min exposure.

Yes – lovin’ this James, it’s as though it is daylight, however, the 4 min exposure has given the image a deepness all of its own. Great moment!

kookylane
Brilliant colours!!
Pilgrim
Extraordinary and all without photoshop 4 min exposure. Brilliant. Love the way it has washed out the sea.
James Pierce
I must confess that some of the purple comes from a breakdown of the chemical process in the film over longer expsoures call reciprocity failure, when the reaction becomes non-linear. With Veliva this tends towards a bit more purple in the images.
kookylane
a HAPPY mistake then, don’t you love it when that happen, it just meant to be (grin).

wow amazing colour
how did u overcome the curvature when u did this panoramic???
James Pierce replied
I shoot nearly all my work with either a Hasselblad XPan or a Large Format camera using a 6×12 back. In both cases the images are a single exposure using lenses with loads of coverage meaning a single plane of focus and no stitching etc which as become popular in the digital age.
Bree Lucas
I love this! One of my favourite places in the world and you’ve absolutely done it justice! I’m transfixed, could look at this forever.
