Albert Stone
The first, and perhaps best of the melbourne statue artists. He stands completely still until someone pays him money, then he slowly moves and gives people flower, or blows bubbles etc.
A note for the camera nerds, one of the last images I made on kodachrome before it got too expensive to shoot it here in AU. The best colours of any film.

This, and the previous Albert Stone one, are just absolutely outrageous, I don’t have the adjectives. Can I buy you more Kodachrome?

Awesome shot James… pure stillness and movement combined… love the cropping…
James Pierce
I wish it was as easy as just getting more film – Now days it’s really hard to even get it processed. I think there are about 3 or 4 labs in the world that do it, it’s a pretty nasty and environmentally awful process.

This is the greatest photo! Took me a while to work out how you did it, then I realised he was alive…
elektra
a fantastic portrait …semingly a B&W until you look at the bubbles
slide IS such a wonderful format…. I dont think digital will ever be as good as 35mm slide
I wonder if Albert Stone has seen The Chasers Spoof on statue art?? very clever, they set up a statue and people give it money thinking it is a statue artist!
Belinda Strodder
Brilliant.
Michelle Wrighton
Absolutely fantastic! I couldn’t figure how the heck you did it either until I read your description.
Michael Douglass

Don’t remember seeing this before. Love the bubbles James!

I used Kodak film as far back as 1971 – I agree with what you say about Kodachrome. I have seen people doing this statue thing before; they must have incredibly good control and no nervous twitches :)
Panteli Pyroma...
Great shot. fantastic composition, contrast and hint of colour.
Douzy
Awesome shot!!!
Geoff Coleman
What a brilliant image – at first glance I thought you’d photoshopped bubbles onto a picture of a statue, but what you did is even more interesting. Great description of how you did this – very helpful. And the way you’ve composed and framed this is just spot-on.
Lance Leopold

Incredible shot – the colours in the bubble you’d swear there was selective saturation going on. The textures on the jacket and tie and hat are incredible. Great shot!

Nice capture of a great artist. We also have a lot of living statues here in Palma to calmly and serenely have tourists part with some small change. We have a gold viking, a woman made of gold trash, a wood nymph, a zorro and many many more who don“t stand still long enough.
Maureen Bloesch
wow, how cool is that :>))

Great image! Just read the description, no selectibve colouring, he just IS Black and white, and the bubbles are in colour. Relly well composed, and well timed! One of the best images, real photography at it’s best!
