Pilot Boats - Queenscliff - Victoria
Every ship of any significant size comming through ‘the rip’ entrance to Melbourne’s bay takes on board a pilot, these brave folks go out in any weather, come along side big ships and then climb a ladder to go aboard. Tough gig !

My Dad left school at 15 to join his brother and Father as a merchant seaman. But for the past 17 years he has worked as a Pilot at Queenscliff. This is a beautiful photo and the colours are brilliant.
