Amanda Latchmore

‘From being a small child my passions have been drawing and dancing. When I was nineteen, my passion for drawing led to a year in Florence, studying life drawing and painting.

I subsequently did a part-time Fine Art Foundation course at York College of Art whilst working as an assistant to an interior designer. Then I was getting a lot of commissions, so I decided to concentrate on doing those instead of continuing on to do a Fine Art degree.

As well as making art I’ve spent a lot of time dancing….. Afro Caribbean, Salsa, Samba, Kathak, Capoeira, Contact Improvisation. Some of these dance forms provided the subjects for an exhibition called ‘move touch connect’ which I held at Yorkshire Dance, in 1998. This was my third solo exhibition in Leeds. In addition to four solo exhibitions of my fine art, I have work in several private collections.

As well as being an artist, I’m a yoga teacher. I also have an award winning garden! (I’m passionate about flowers – especially tulips, paeonies and roses). I also love fashion. It’s essential for my well-being that something creative is going on in my life.’
