The Grand Plan
I have been thinking about this all night
now that some video projects are completing
i am planning on what to do.
most people who know me
know i want to go back to volunteer work
and i am hoping to do that at the end of the year
So the plan is i am going to buy a round the world ticket
and fly back to Indonesia (Banda Aceh) and Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan
I also want to go to Darfur, Chechnya, Cambodia and Brazil
I am going to do a video and photography project on children
and hopefully teach children to take photos
I am hoping on sponsorship and assistance with Unicef, Kids with Cameras and also my friends of Global Peace Mission to help me work with the kids in the orphanage of Bassian and Banda Aceh
i am working on my exhibition hoping on September to get the prints mounted
and ready for a fundraiser to help build a school
Anyway this is post of what I am planning
If you can help me that would be awesome
If you have a automatic photo camera you don’t want anymore post it or hand it to me
I plan to use it to help teach the children
so far i bought 3 fairly good automatic camera
i need around 12
also need a video camera but i might have to save up for that.
If anyone is interested in the adventure
and want to come I plan to leave in December
so I can be in Aceh for Boxing Day to remember the Tsunami tragedy
maybe meet me and help out in the project somewhere
I also plan to stop in New York so I can meet up with the people who run Kids with Cameras
they did the doco “Born into Brothels”
I hope to be gone at least 4-5 months spending the last months in Pakistan
in the early spring so i don’t have to fight snow to build my school

Daijiro: yeah film cameras. digitals would be nice but i am sure it is too expensive for people to part. i’ve seen APS film in Aceh and India so that could be good

Marco: An address to send it to is PO 2379 Footscray Victoria, 3011 but I will be in Sydney area on 5th August I believe as i head to Byron Bay for the Splendour tour to help out with the tech stuff for Gotye.
everything is slowly coming to plan actually. going to start it in Werribee with some Somalian and Burmese Refugee kids.

Hi Jake! Hope all is going well with the touring, will see if I can dig up some old cameras for you, I’ll get some other people on the case as well – I’ve moved up to Horsham recently so I think they still might be in a box still…. I’ll hunt them down! When are you planning to start the project in Werribee? If it’s on a weekend, I’m happy to help out – used to work in Werribee and met a lot of the Karen families
