This work is influenced by my time living and working in Burkina Faso, West Africa as a Peace Corps volunteer. Burkina is a former French colony.

Jaelah was born in Wisconsin, the land of cows, cheese, and beer. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Missouri State University. She then served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Burkina Faso, West Africa from 2007-2010. Upon her return, she followed her affinity for the heat and moved to Austin, TX where she currently resides, makes art, and staves off the itch of moving abroad again.
