This is a large painting on stretched canvas that I did for two good friends of mine. They had recently remodeled their bedroom and wanted a piece de resistance to top it all off. We talked in general about mood and colors, but they pretty much gave me free reign. The starting point for me was the Austin Telephone Directory cover from 1961 that I had found in a pile on the side of the road the week before.

512 is the area code of Austin, TX. This is an amazing city with some spectacular people in it. We all feel lucky to be living here and seeing its transformation.
