DESOLATE
The downward spiral brings with it
A vast emotional void
Desolate, barren
Faces that will not reveal
Mouths that will not speak
Of this sad and isolated place
The origins are unclear
The duration unknown
Quicksand for the soul

ABOUT THIS IMAGE:
the meaning:
This is a deeply personal image for me, symbolizing the shame and silent suffering associated with surviving sexual abuse/incest.
I had to wade through the darkness of surviving, an abusive childhood, to come out into the light. I am happy to say i’ve arrived at a good place in my healing journey. This image, my words, they reflect a time and place, when things were very dark and the pain was difficult to navigate. Pain is a predator, if you run from it, it will hunt you down, face it and it will move through you . . . eventually.
Make your pain productive and you can turn tragedy into triumph.

I have suffered and survived..the choice is given to us to be a victim or a survivor..I’m happy that i made the choice to survive and vow to keep the innocense of a child sacred. Glad you made the choice as well. Hugs, Cynthia
Thank you Cynthia. Your words are profound. I think it is inspiring that you chose to be a survivor. My experience was that i was too young to avoid being a victim, but i did have to decide whether or not to stay a victim or to fight for my survival, my healing, my dreams and my happiness. I too, keep the sweetness of a child, the wonder and delight that every day of life brings. There is a softness to me, a tenderness, that the abuse did not destroy.
PEACE, LOVE and LIGHT

Abuse can’t take away your beautiful spirit..I don’t believe there is a living soul in this crazy world that could avoid being victimized, because our spirits even when young are of trust and love. Abuse takes it away, and we have to fight so hard to survive. I commend you for aking those hard and sometimes horrific steps to be the courageous soul you are today. I am sure you have helped others more than u know thru your art. The journey never ends, but let your beautiful love light shine on.
Peace and Light, Love and Hugs,
Cynthia
