Jason a masterpiece my friend. Where does one start!!! The ship is obviously a gem of a find – those rays from the clouds are magic – the lines are stunning – processing spot on – this is a classic.

  • Blimey Rosalie, that was quick, really appreciate those encouraging comments, puts a smile on my face, glad you like it my friend.

    Hi Jason ( I have sent you a B-mail),
A masterpiece, indeed. Extremely well composed. The sky is stunning and the curves in the foreground are wonderful. Naturally with the stranded ferry as the most important.
    The lighting is exquisite.

  • Thanks mate, really appreciate your brill comments on my shot, thanks again..

    G’day Jason,

    What a great find mate!!!!!

Your placement of the main elements is spot on.
    HOWEVER!
I do feel that by cutting a slice off across the top, bringing the top edge of frame down to just eliminate the bright hole in the clouds, will greatly improve the composition by raisng the horizon almost to a “Thirds” line and place the ferry almost on a “Thirds” intersection, all adding more impact to this fine photograph.

Your exposure and processing has rendered a great study of this marine disaster and the colours, tones, contrasts and lighting creates a wonderful mood.
    Great work!

  • Dennis, thanks for the mention of the crop, it’s funny you mention it, I sent this and several other shots of this stricken vessel to my local newspaper and 2 of them including this one were printed on a double spread along with several other newspaper readers shots.
Well chuffed I was, anyway they did their own crop on it and it was exactly where you mentioned, just shows..you know your stuff.
glad you ike the shot mate.
