In Dads footsteps.....

November 2009
This is a shot of my son James, my youngest, who has a keen eye on photography, when I can actually drag him off the X-box…
He was using my Nikon D70s at the time
While on holiday in Cornwall, My family and myself met up with Friend and bubbler Rob parsons, he showed us some of the local beauty spots there…
This was taken from the cliffs just after sunset.
Shot with a Nikon D300 and Sigma 10-20mm lens

if he has more images from the holiday would he like to add more through your profile page into youngy snappers as we would love to run a challenge soon, just need a few more images and kids to join : ))))

  • Jason Connolly replied

Cheers Karen, I’ll have a look through D70 folder, the shots He and Donna (his mum) did during the holiday and will bang a couple up karen…
Chers for the great comments, he did enjoy it, but as yet it isn’t his favourite hobby, you can guess what it is…

well, first of all, glad you got him off the XBox, my grandsons do that too much as well! Secondly he has chosen an excellent view for his photo here, How did it turn out? Keep him at it Jason, he will in no time be as good as you :-))

  • Jason Connolly replied

Thanks Vickie, yeah, he’s well and truly hooked to the X-box, all his friend are also, so he feels I think that if he doesn’t join in (peer pressure) his friends wont like him (some friends hey!!).
Anyway, there are a couple of sunset shots HERE that he did, I can’t remember which one of them he was taking at that time…
I have no doubt as you say, he would be equally if not better than me if he did a bit more…

Thanks my friend, Tracy, i have asked him, but the last thing I want to do is drag the poor lad around when he doesn’t want to, I wish he would, he always has had a an arty eye and I am sure there will come a point when he pursues it, but in his own time, whenever that is LOL..

awww.. I understand all about young people having to “come around” to something on their own time…torn between what is “cool” at the time and what they “may” actualy want to do!!
Maybe… try hiding the X Box, and putiing a camera down where it used to be instead… just kidding… :p
Your son really shows such promise…maybe as he gets a bit older. :]

  • Jason Connolly replied

I think you’ve probably hit the nail on the head there, with it not being cool, He’s probably a bit bothered that they’ll take the mickey out of him I think, Kids can be swines like that, I can still remember that LOL.
I like the idea of replacing the x-box with the camera LOL, But somehow can’t see that working really LOL

    A lovely image.
It is wonderful to see so many young kids in their teens & even younger getting into photography these days.
Both my grandsons aged 14 & 9 years have started to get into it now & I find it just fantastic for us to go out taking pics & giving each other ideas. The joy of sharing our love for photography is so rewarding.

  • Jason Connolly replied
