    The etymology of Chav is fascinating, especially the part about the Nonantum, Mass. dialect. I spend a LOT of time in Massachusetts, have friends & relatives galore there, & know some folk who live in Newton, but I have NEVER heard of the ‘Lake Dialect’. Thanks for this tidbit – & glad you lived through it all!
