Went on a Church walk 31st January up the Langdale pikes in the English lake district national park Cumbria England, but unfortunately we didn’t get to the top due to the snow and there were youngsters in the group so weren’t taking any chances there, but had a great day out nevertheless and the light wasn’t bad all day, as I am their official photographer, I get to do all the photos..What a bind.. a joke hehehe.
This was one of the last I took today on our way down.
This was shot looking into the Langdale valley.
3 shot HDR using monopod so am pretty pleased…

Excellent Jason mate.
I’d love to visit this place, and maybe I will . . . me and Michael Oubridge are going down to the Lakes on March 1st . . . hopefully he will know where it is.
Jason Connolly replied
Hi David..It’s probably one of the most popular places to visit in the lake district, park at the national trust car or if you go early enough, park a bit up the road for free.
make your way up the stickle ghyll, plenty of waterfalls up ther up to Stickle tarn then you can be mad, go up jacks rake or the path to the right of pavey ark, that’s the top, then over to harrison Stickle and pike of stickle, then down Dungeon ghyll back to the car park, plenty of uphill walking and a bit of work, but on a good day the views are worth it mate, you’ll have a great time.
Cheers for the great comments on the shot mate.
WatscapePhoto
Even with a monopod you’ve got steady hand! I should think you are pleased. Terrific composition and stunning scenery.
Jason Connolly replied
I was mate, but had to bin plenty too due to shakey hand, unfortunatley I couldn’t start popping up a tripod with a group of 25 including myself, I’d have loved to though, cheers mate..

Absolutley gorgeous Jas!!! Such wonderful detail!!! how do you find the monopod??? I’m on the lookout for a good tripod!!! *-)
Jason Connolly replied
Hiya Deb, thanks my friend for the comments on this one.
Of course it’s not as good as a tripod but the the Monopod is a reasonable compromise between handheld and using a tripod, gives you the ability to a lower shutter or use a smaller aperture, can’t keep using a tripod when there are loads of you and you gotta keep up too, bit difficult when trying to do the portrait style, but not sure if you can get something for that Deb.
Mine is a Manfrotto 681B and it is built to last, as tough as a tank and not that heavy considering how tough it is, and it extends very high ..I also used it as a walking pole.
Worth the money Deb..

Jason Connolly replied
Hiya mick, thanks for dropping by mate, never got to go up to pavey ark. cause of the snow and having the young ‘ens with us, best decision at the time, but a pity nevertheless, after Stickle tarn turn sort of right to Blea rigg and cragg and back down that way, still was a beautiful walk, felt right with nature and the wild up there, I have stayed at that camp site too, brilliant time, thanks again Michael…
